Conceptual Projects
A selection of my projects from my BA(Hons) Architecture course at Oxford Brookes University.

Craft+Care Mawddach
2019-2020 | Fairbourne, Gwynedd
Craft + Care Mawddach is a multi-functional craft centre, which combined folk craft and senior co-living, in response to the loneliness epidemic that elderly rural populations face.
Two central cores host craft workshops and activities providing year-round income for local craftsmen and artists as well as opportunities for tourism and education. Around the periphery, individual pods create semi-independent residential living for vulnerable members of the local community, providing them with social stability and bringing the community together.
This project focused on the way communities can come together to incite positive change, and was based in and around Fairbourne, a village under constant threat of sea level rise due to climate change.

Wilcox Community Pop-up Kitchen
2018 | Lambeth, London
I took a kinaesthetic approach to this brief, focusing on activity-based teaching and learning. This manifested as a volunteer-run cooking school, using community-donated food as a basis for recipes.
Inspired by street parties and community fridges, this concept creates a local venue for people to share recipes, bringing one of London's most culturally diverse boroughs together through food. The building expands when in use, with a breatheable ETFE-style membrane blurring the lines between street and kitchen.

Teatro Improviso
2019 | Marvila, Lisbon
The Iberian Peninsula has strong theatrical traditions, including Barraca - makeshift wooden stalls housing puppet shows and popular fairs, and Teatro de Revista - variety shows parodying current events and popular culture.
Inspired by this, and by the way storytelling and creativity brings people together, I conceptualised a theatre/make-space hub for these activities in the Lisboan suburb of Marvila, where a pop-up theatre and open-access workshop grows from a temporary into a permanent fixture. This project focused on theatrical sets and construction, and the concept of sharing skills across communities and generations.
